Greenwich Residents Can Participate in New Canaan Hazardous Waste Day

Greenwich canceled its hazardous waste day, but New Canaan is having one a week from this Saturday, Sept 12, 2020 and Greenwich is one of the participating towns.

The event runs 8:00am to 2:00pm at the Wastewater Plant at 394 Main Street in New Canaan.

What can I bring? Oil based paints, stains, varnishes, wood preservatives, paint strippers/thinners, aerosol cans, adhesives, fuels/gasoline/kerosene, engine cleaner, brake fluid, car wax, polishes, driveway sealers, roofing tar, swimming pool chemicals, insecticides, pesticides, chemical fertilizers, weed killer, moth balls, flea control products, rubber cement, fiberglass resins, photo chemicals, chemistry sets, furniture polish, floor and metal polish, oven cleaners, drain and toilet cleaners, spot removers, rugs and upholstery cleaners, fluorescent light bulbs.

What not to bring? Latex paint, empty containers, commercial generated wastes, radioactive wastes, smoke detectors, biological waste, explosives, ammunition, tires, asbestos, medicine, syringes, oil and antifreeze, car batteries, dry cell batteries or propane tanks.

Please have drivers license or registration readily available. No commercial (business) loads accepted.
