Greenwich Police arrested three men from Bronx, NY on Tuesday afternoon after plainclothes offers spotted suspicious activity in two financial institutions in the area of East Putnam Ave.
Police said that upon making contact with employees at each of the locations, reasonable suspicion was developed that led to patrol officers stopping and detaining a vehicle containing three suspects.
Investigators detained, interviewed and positively identified Jaquell Jamell wright, 21; Robert J Herrera-Martinez, 21; and Bryan Cherif, 23.
Investigation revealed that Mr. Wright presented a forged check for $600 containing the personal identifying information (PII) of another person in order to obtain the funds. A subsequent search of his co-conspirator’s vehicle revealed additional counterfeit checks and several presumed stolen checks.
Mr. Wright was charged with: Criminal Attempt Larceny 5 (2 counts), Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 5 (2 counts), Identity Theft 3 (2 counts), Conspiracy to Commit Identity Theft 3 (2 counts), Forgery 3 (2 counts) and five counts of Conspiracy to Commit Forgery 3.
He was able to post his $5,000 bond and has a court date in Stamford on Nov 12, 2024.
Mr. Herrera-Martinez was charged with Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 5 (2 counts), Conspiracy to Commit Identity Theft 3 (2 counts), and five counts of Conspiracy to Commit Forgery 3.
He was unable to post his $10,000 bond and shares the date in Stamford Court on Nov 12, 2024.
A third man, Bryan Cherif, 23, was charged with Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 5, Conspiracy to Commit identity Theft 3 and five counts of Conspiracy to Commit Forgery 3.
He was able to post his $15,000 bond and is due in court on Nov 12, 2024.
