Six Figure Bond for Old Greenwich Man Who Threatened to Kill Neighbor

Greenwich Police responded to Sound Beach Ave at about 9:20pm on Sept. 3  in response to a dispute between two neighbors, Joseph Claps, 20, of 43 Sound Beach Ave and Michael Pope, 51, of 44 Sound Beach Ave.

Mr. Pope was arrested for Criminal Trespass 1st degree, Breach of Peace 2nd degree and Threatening after he trespassed on a neighbor’s property and threatened to kill him.

Mr. Pope was given a $100,000 bond which he was not able to post and is currently being held in the Greenwich Police cell block.

Mr. Claps was arrested for Breach of Peace and Threatening. He was released on the scene with a promise to appear in court. Back on May 4, Mr. Claps was charged with Breach of Peace and Criminal Mischief after going to a neighbor’s home and engaging in a verbal argument with a man involving past damage to his vehicle. Claps then smashed a flower pot on the property of 38 Sound Beach Ave and broke a wooden bench with a tree branch.
