Greenwich Police responded to Saks Fifth Avenue at 205 Greenwich Ave on Sunday afternoon on a report of a shoplifter attempting to leave the store. The incident took place at approximately 3:00pm.
Greenwich Police were able to locate the shoplifter, later identified as Mary Meerbergen, 31, of 27 Richmond Drive in Greenwich, and confirmed that she had defeated the anti-theft device on a clothing item and stowed it in the bottom compartment of her baby stroller.
Meerbergen was arrested for Risk of Injury to a Minor, Criminal Mischief, Larceny 6th and Possession of Shoplifting tools. Her bond was set at $35. She was given a court date of April 20 at Stamford Superior Court.
