Riverside Man Charged with DUI after Crash on West End Ave

On Friday, May 21 around 11:00pm, Greenwich Police officers were dispatched to the area of West End Ave at Sound Beach Ave on a report of a motor vehicle accident with possible injuries.

Upon arrival officers observed a black Porsche 911 with its front end in the air and its rear end on the sidewalk as it had driven up onto a guide wire belonging to a telephone pole on West End Ave.

Police say that both fire personnel who had observed the accident and medics advised that they believed the driver was intoxicated.

The driver, Jens Otto Mueffelmann, 54, of Riverside, presented with glassy red eyes and hd the odor of alcoholic beverage. On scene, Mr. Mueffelmann admitted to having consumed an alcoholic beverage at a nearby event.

He was unable to perform field sobriety tests to standard, and was charged with DUI, Failure to Maintain Proper Lane and Failure to carry Operator’s License.

He was able to post 10% of his $500 bond and was released. He has a date in Stamford Sueperior Court on June 7, 2021.
