Report of People Drinking, Harassing Beach Goers Ends in DUI for Greenwich Woman

On July 17 Greenwich Police responded to Tod’s Point on a report of a group of people harassing beach goers and consuming alcohol.

The incident took place around 4:00pm on Wednesday and police caught up to the group they had left the beach and were driving north on Sound Beach Ave.

After police observed erratic operation of the car, a 2017 Ford Explorer XLT, they stopped the vehicle near the Sound Beach fire station.

Through investigation police determined that the driver Jessica Owen-Smith, 45, of Memory Lane, smelled of alcoholic beverage and had bloodshot eyes. She was unable to perform field sobriety tests to standard. She was arrested and charged with DUI. She posted a $250 bond and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Wednesday, July 31, 2019.
