Man Known to Greenwich Police Charged with Disorderly Conduct and Violation of Protective Order

On Sept 28 Greenwich Police were dispatched to a location to speak to a reporting party about an incident that had just occurred. Upon arrival officers determined through on scene investigation that a violation had occurred.

Police said Michael Rinello, 47, of Greenwich, was the offending party that that he had kicked a door leaving visible footprints on its outside. Once inside, Rinello allegedly open hand smacked the victim in the back of the head and then to the forehead.

Rinello was charged with Disorderly Conduct and transported to police headquarters where he was unable to post the 7% required minimum ($70.00) of his $1,000 bond.

Mr. Rinello was also charged with Violation of Protective Order for sending multiple text messages to the victim in violation of the order. Police went to the location where Rinello was residing and arrested him.

He was charged with Violation of Protective Order, a class D Felony. Bond was set at $150,000 which he was unable to post.

Rinello was placed in a holding cell, and assigned a court date on Sept 30, 2024 in Stamford Superior Court.

Rinello has a history of arrests by Greenwich and Stamford Police. In Stamford he was charged in July, 2024 with Possession of Controlled Substance and Illegal Operation Motor Vehicle Under Suspension.  That case is pending in court.

In Greenwich, Rinello was previously arrested in August of 2021 and charged with Assault and Strangulation following a physical fight with a victim. In that incident, police said Rinello strangled the victim, grabbed and threw the victim into a wall and punched the victim’s car windshield, leaving it damaged.

Rinello is due back in Stamford Superior Court on Dec 5, 2024.
