Greenwich Woman Faces Multiple Charges Including DUI, Speeding, and Failure to Obey Officer’s Signal

police stationDeborah B. Nielsen, 57, of 205 Round Hill Road, was arrested and faces multiple charges after an incident in the area of Steamboat Road and Bruce Park Ave on June 24.

According to a police report, around 11:00pm, a Greenwich Police officer observed a motor vehicle traveling in the area of Steamboat Road and Bruce Park Ave without its headlights on. The vehicle made an extremely wide right turn causing it to cross all lanes of travel and almost strike construction barriers located on the other side of the road.

According to the report, the vehicle continued, swerving over the double yellow line and almost striking the curb several times.

The vehicle reached speeds of 55 MPH in a 25 MPH zone.

The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but it continued to travel up the road until it finally stopped.

Through further investigation it was determined that the operator, identified as Deborah B Nielsen displayed bloodshot, glassy eyes and the odor associated with the consumption of alcoholic beverages was detected emanating from her person and breath. Nielsen was asked to submit to a series of standardized field sobriety tests, which she did not perform to standard.

Nielsen was charged with DUI, Speeding,  Failure to Have Headlamps Illuminated, Failure to Drive Right, Unsafe Movement and  Failure to Obey Officer’s Signal.

Nielsen was released after posting her $250 bond and was assigned a court date on July 8, 2016 in Stamford Superior Court.
