The investigation and arrest were conducted by the Connecticut State Police.

On Friday Greenwich Police Deputy Chief Mark Zuccerella said in a release that the offenses were misdemeanors, no one was physically injured, and that the incident was still an active investigation.

Further he said Officer Caldwell, who was charged in the incident, had been placed on administrative leave, and a comprehensive review was underway.

“Please know that we are taking this matter with the utmost seriousness,” Zuccerella said in the release. “The trust between our department and the community we serve is invaluable.”

Finally, Zuccerella said in the release, “The Greenwich Police Department reaffirms our unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and continual improvement. While this incident is disheartening, it remains an isolated occurrence, and it should not overshadow the dedication and honorable service exhibited by the majority of our officers.”

The incident remains active, and Zuccerella said there were no plans for further comment.

According to a news release from the CT State Police and both the warrant affidavit and the criminal information summary, on March 26 Stamford State’s Attorney requested that the CT State Police Western District Major Crime Squad assume investigative responsibilities into an alleged Domestic Violence incident involving two Greenwich Police officers including Caldwell, a Greenwich resident.

Caldwell was charged with larceny 5, Breach of Peace 2, Disorderly Conduct and Computer Crime 5.

His bond was set at $25,000
