UPDATED: Greenwich Police Say Car Collided with Youth on Bicycle

Upate 1:30pm:  Greenwich Police provided an update to the information on the incident on Hillside Rd and Fairfield Rd. They said they originally responded to a report of a car collision with a youth on a bicycle.

“Upon arrival it was determined that a 14-year-old male was riding a bicycle along or on Fairfield Rd and may have been attempting to cross the roadway to turn onto Hillside Rd when he collided with a vehicle that was also traveling on Fairfield Rd and turning onto Hillside Rd,” Lt Smyth said in his email to media, adding, “The youth struck his head against the front windshield of the vehicle and was apparently not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.”

Smyth said the boy was conscious but disorientated upon police arrival and was then transported to Stamford Hospital for evaluation and treatment.

The Greenwich Police Traffic Section responded to investigate the collision and the roadway was closed for approximately 2 hours.

The operator of the vehicle was on scene when Police arrived and was cooperating with their investigation.  There were no reported injuries from the operator or any of the passengers of the vehicle.

The police investigation is ongoing, and no charges have been issued at this time.
