Greenwich Man Charged with DUI after Crashing into Office Building

Greenwich Police carA local man was arrested on May 15 at about 10:30pm after Greenwich Police responded to a 911 call that a vehicle had crashed into a building at 100 West Putnam Ave.

At the scene Police located a vehicle that had mounted the northern curb of Benedict Place, colliding with a stair railing and stair foundation. The driver and sole occupant, identified via his CT license as Ian F Kennedy, 35, of 13 Prospect Street West in Greenwich, was located in the driver seat with the vehicle running.

Unable to provide a reason for the motor vehicle collision, Mr. Kennedy also provided inconsistent answers when asked about where he was coming from and going to. According to Greenwich Police, Kennedy’s eyes were observed to be red, glassy and bloodshot. He agreed to exit his vehicle to perform standardized field sobriety tests which he was not able to perform to standard.

Mr. Kennedy later agreed to provide two breath samples which indicated he had an elevated blood alcohol content above the .08 limit. He was arrested and charged with DUI and Restricted Turns Fail Signal. He posted a $250 bond and was assigned a court date of May 22 at Stamford Superior Court.
