DUI, Use of Mobile Device While Driving for Driver Who Crashed on Pecksland

On Saturday around 12:30am Greenwich Police were detailed to Pecksland Road on a report of a motor vehicle accident.

Investigation determined that the driver had red glassy eyes and the odor of alcohol. The driver, David J Gilbert, 60, of 23 Meadow Lane in Greenwich was unable to perform field sobriety tests to standard.

According to Lt Slusarz, Gilbert was driving around a curve on Pecksland Rd when he left the road and crashed into a stone wall. He was driving a blue Audi.

He was arrested and charged with DUI, Failure to Drive in Proper Lane and Operating Motor Vehicle with Handheld Device.

He has a date in Stamford Superior Court on August 10, 2018. He was able to post his $250 bond and was released.
