On Saturday about 12:47am Greenwich Police spotted a black Toyota SUV speeding along East Putnam Ave in the area of Indian Field Road.
The car failed to maintain proper lane as it continued east through Cos Cob where it failed to obey a red light at the intersection of Orchard Street.
Police stopped the car in the area of Valley Rd and Harold Street. The driver Sanam Lari, 45, of Cos Cob had glassy red eyes and the odor of alcohol. Police say she fumbled with her belongings when asked to present her license and paperwork.
Her vehicle had heavy damage from an accident that had occurred the same night at an unknown location. She related to officers that she had consumed two glasses of wine. She was unable to perform field sobriety tests to standard and was charged with DUI, Failure to Maintain Lane and Operating While Using a Cell Phone.
She has a date in Stamford Superior Court on Feb 22, 2021. She posted 10% cash bond and was released.
