More than 200 swimmers and volunteers are set to participate in the ninth annual Swim Across America Greenwich-Stamford Swim Saturday morning. The Swim will be held on the Greenwich-Stamford border at 96 Cummings Point Road, Stamford, Connecticut, on the shores of the headquarters for the Alliance for Cancer Gene Therapy (ACGT), the beneficiary of this year’s swim and the nation’s only non-profit foundation dedicated exclusively to funding cancer gene therapy research. There are three open water swims at Saturday’s event: a 3-mile swim, a 1.5-mile swim, and a shorter half-mile swim. Swimmers range in age from nine years old to 82 years old and include everyone from amateurs to Olympic athletes. Michele Graham and Lorrie Lorenz, both mothers of teenage cancer survivors, chair this inspirational event.
