Throughout the day, officers showcased specialized units including the SWAT team, dive team, and the department drone program. Police vehicles and equipment were displayed outside headquarters as children and families had the opportunity to speak directly with officers about their roles and training.
The Riverside Garden Club invites all to join them for a tour of the Colonial Herb Garden and light refreshments. Two Roads Brewery of Stratford has generously volunteered to brew ale using the hops grown at the colonial garden. Come sample what George Washington would have been served at the Knapp’s Tavern during his traverse through Greenwich 250 years ago.
Forty-five members partnered with local nonprofits across Greenwich in a day of hands-on service supporting children, families, and community organizations.

College admissions is a strong motivation, if not a preoccupation of Greenwich parents and their teens. Campus Safety is often an afterthought, but it shouldn’t be. That was the message at Tuesday night’s panel discussion at GHS. Panelists included Lieutenant Brian Logan, who has been with Yale University Police for 25 years, School Research Officer Carlos Franco from Greenwich Police’s Special Victims Section, Detective Division, Chris Carleno from The Center for Sexual Assault, and Kathy Steiner, 15 year Wellness Teacher at GHS. On Saturday at Camp Seton about 80 Cub Scouts and their parents gave shape to race cars crated from wood blocks during the second of two Pinewood Derby workshops. In anticipation of the March 11 Pinewood Derby, the boys each selected a template and stenciled the pattern onto a block of wood. From there, they put on safety goggles and cut out their cars in the woodshop. Lastly, the process of sanding began. “They learn the fundamentals of woodworking and safety, and make a cool car,” said special events coordinator Emilia Schiro, who was overseeing the event with District Director Ray Garrison.
