Eugene (Gene) McEvoy passed away peacefully Sunday evening, after a lengthy battle with dementia. He was born in Port Chester, NY on July 22, 1932 the son of Eugene and Katherine Metrusky McEvoy. He spent his whole life in the Byram area of Greenwich. As a young boy he learned the art of fishing from his Uncle Buster which left him with a lifelong love for fishing which he passed onto his own children and some of their friends. The Acme stores in Greenwich at 160 West Putnam Avenue and 1261 E Putnam Ave in Riverside Commons will soon stop selling beer. Signs on the doors to say that effective Saturday, Jan 23 they will no longer sell beer in their Connecticut store locations. The last day to purchase beer will be Friday Jan 22. In the stores, beer is on clearance. Beyond that the stores have marked down the majority of items.
