Wasserman: Khanna delivers on lowering taxes.

Submitted by Svetlana Wasserman, Greenwich

I am writing to commend State Representative Rachel Khanna for her work in delivering the largest income tax cut in Connecticut’s history. At a time when many are struggling with rising costs of living, Rachel’s efforts to pass meaningful tax relief are helping families keep more of their hard-earned money.

Rachel has been a key voice in the legislature, advocating for a tax policy that is both fiscally responsible and focused on providing relief. The tax cuts she supported lowered marginal tax rates, increased the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), and eliminated more retirement income taxes. These changes reduce the tax burden on families and stimulate the local economy by putting more money into the hands of consumers. Her work has been especially impactful for middle-income families, who often struggle with the highest tax burden.

Rachel’s commitment to tax relief is balanced by her focus on fiscal responsibility. She supported a budget that not only included these historic tax cuts but also ensured that Connecticut’s Rainy Day Fund was fully funded and that pension liabilities were paid down.

This kind of smart, balanced approach to tax policy is exactly what we need to ensure both immediate relief for families and long-term fiscal stability for our state, earning Rachel a top score from the CT Business and Industry Association.

Thanks to Rachel’s leadership, our district and the entire state are seeing the benefits of lower taxes, a stronger economy, and a more secure financial future. I wholeheartedly support her re-election to make Connecticut more affordable for working families.

Sincerely,
Svetlana Wasserman, Greenwich
