FRANTZ: Fazio has our backs

Submitted by Icy Frantz

November 5th will soon be here and for some of us, election day cannot come soon enough. I spend my time opting out of political texts and wondering how candidates are spinning the facts to make their message the most compliant to the majority of the voters.

And although I may sound cynical, I do not think I am alone.

It is rare, these days, to find a candidate who is honest and trustworthy. A candidate who won’t just tell you what you want to hear for the sake of your vote.

However, I have found that candidate in our own 36th district. From the first time I met Senator Ryan Fazio, when he was not yet our senator, he told me what he stood for and why even though we did not agree on everything.

But we do agree on much and his work in Hartford on our behalf has been tireless and effective.

He is our hero when it comes to 8-30g.

Ryan has worked across the aisle to come up with new solutions, he has written bills and yes, he has voted and filibustered against bad policy. I am increasingly worried about the nature of our downtown, our lack of infrastructure for additional housing and allowing Hartford to make decisions that are best handled by us. Ryan has our backs.

And electric bills – they are outrageous. Again, Ryan has worked tirelessly to assure transparency and to ease the financial strain that so many feel from these extreme costs- the worst in the country.

Finally, Ryan is committed to keeping abortion legal in our state but more than that he has improved women’s access to healthcare and birth control. This is an important issue for me and although I agree that abortion needs to be legal, the real conversation and goal should be around lowering the number of abortions in our state and how do we do that- access and education.

But please do not take my word.

It is our job – not just to just read, listen and believe but rather to do our homework. There is a lot of misinformation out there.

No matter the party, no matter the candidate, we all need to submit an educated vote on November 5th.

I think you will find that Senator Fazio is true to his word, hardworking, and able to work with others honorably and with integrity.

Sincerely,
Icy Frantz
