In recognition of Veterans Day, the Mary Bush Chapter of the Children of the American Revolution, sponsored by the Putnam Hill Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, placed American flags on the graves of Revolutionary War soldiers at Christ Church Cemetery on November 9, 2025.

CAR President Patrick McCann and new member Sophie Kim with Laura Kim; (back row) Mr. and Mrs. Carl White, Katie Sumner, Tracy Agro, SAR President David Wald, and Tony Marzullo.
The students were guided by local veterans Tony Marzullo and Carl White from the Cos Cob VFW, who shared the history of the 16 Revolutionary War soldiers buried there. During the event, David Wald, President of the Matthew Mead Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, also rededicated the grave marker of Revolutionary War patriot Solomon Close.
The CAR chapter is also sponsoring Greenwich’s Wreaths Across America ceremony, to be held on Saturday, December 13 at noon at Christ Church Cemetery. This annual nationwide event takes place simultaneously with the ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, honoring the men and women who have served and continue to serve in the United States Armed Forces. All members of the community are invited to attend.
The Mary Bush CAR Society has 60 members, ages 1 to 21, and hosts educational and patriotic activities throughout the year. The Children of the American Revolution is a national organization that encourages interest in American history, government, conservation, and culture, fostering patriotism and civic responsibility among young people.
The chapter is currently holding a membership drive and welcomes prospective members. Assistance is available for those unsure of their eligibility. Any child with an ancestor who fought, served, or supported the American cause during the Revolutionary War may qualify.
