Mark you calendars for the Woman’s Club of Greenwich annual holiday boutique:
Friday, Nov. 14, 10:00am – 5:00-pm
Sat., Nov 15, 10:00am – 4:00pm
The club, located at 89 Maple Ave in a spacious Victorian mansion, has ample parking and brims with room after room of unique gifts. There are also visits from Santa, raffle prizes and “Grandma’s Kitchen.”
For years the annual two-day shopping event has become a destination for people seeking handmade and one-of-a-kind gifts. All proceeds from the two day event benefit the Club’s philanthropies and scholarship fund.
This year Greenwich Free Press is spotlighting individual vendors over the weeks leading up to the event.
Featured Vendor: A Single Strand
A Single Strand is designed for chic women who are looking for the perfect accessories (necklaces, bracelets, earrings, hair accessories, scarves, etc.). Founded in July 2007 by Alice Woods, A Single Strand is owned and operated by Alice Woods. Her line is designed for the end consumer and retail stores with a focus on sophisticated fun. Retail price points are between $5.00 and $ 185.00.

Alice Woods said that after spending 15 years working in the fashion industry, she left New York to start a family, but kept Coco Chanel’s words in mind: “Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.”
Now that Alice’s children are older, she’s returned to creating, this time in the accessories world. It stems back to a night Alice had a formal event to attend. She had a great dress but no jewelry to go with it.
“I went through my jewelry box, came up with an old strand of amber my mother had given me years before, re-made it into a fun necklace, and was amazed at how many ladies asked me where I had bought it,” Alice said. “Accessories are the perfect touch to add personal style—Enjoy creating your own unique look with A Single Strand!”

The Woman’s Club of Greenwich was founded in 1910 to bring together women to promote civic, philanthropic and educational activities and exert a helpful influence in the community. The Clubhouse is conveniently located and is available for events such as birthdays, graduations, anniversaries, bar/bat mitzvahs, quinceañeras, or other social or business occasions.
