Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jill Gildea announced on Wednesday that John Grasso will continue to serve as Interim Principal for Hamilton Avenue School for the 2018-2019 school year.
Mr. Grasso has served in the position since the start of school this year. Prior to his retirement from the Greenwich Public Schools in 2012, Mr. Grasso held a leadership position at Riverside School for eighteen years and served as Interim Parkway School Principal for the 2016-2017 school year.
Grasso replaced Hamilton Avenue School Principal Cindy Rigling, who left Greenwich in 2017 to become Head of the Lower School for GEMS World Academy in Chicago, an International Baccalaureate World School.
“I am pleased and grateful that Mr. Grasso has agreed to provide continuity of leadership in the short-term for Hamilton Avenue School as we continue the search for a long-term Principal for the school,” said Dr. Gildea in a statement. “Mr. Grasso’s expertise, leadership, and strong connection with our learning community is most valued. His contagious positive energy brings the students, staff, and our entire community together to support our young learners in an environment of care, mutual respect, and support. It is our great pleasure to welcome Mr. Grasso back to this important leadership role for the 2018/2019 school year.”
