On February 24, at about 4:00pm, Greenwich Police were detailed to Ritch Ave at Byram Shore Road on the report of a car crash. Two motor vehicles were observed to have come into collision.
Through further investigation, it was determined that one of the drivers, Tomas J. Diaz, 45, of 232 King St, unit 1, Port Chester, NY displayed red glassy eyes and the odor associated with the consumption of alcoholic beverages was detected emanating from his person and breath. Diaz was asked to submit to a series of standardized field sobriety tests, which he did not perform to standard.
Diaz was charged with DUI, Improper Lane Change and Failure to Carry Insurance Card. he was issued a court appearance date of March 9 at Stamford Superior Court. Diaz was able to post a $250.00 bond and released.
