Teen Driver Charged after Crashing into Fence on Riverside Ave

A man was arrested on June 10 around 1:00am after Greenwich Police responded to a report of a car having crashed into a fence on Riverside Avenue.

The driver, John Harrington, 19, of 5 Doe View Lane in Pound Ridge New York, was observed with red, glassy eyes and the odor of alcoholic beverages. Harrington did not perform field sobriety tests to standard. He provided breath samples that indicated elevated blood alcohol content.

The laws in Connecticut are strict for drivers under 21 who attempt to drink and drive.

Harrington was charged under CT General Statute Sec. 14-227g, which applies to a driver under 21 with blood alcohol content exceeding two-hundredths of one per cent.

His bond was set at $250 and ye was assigned a court date on June 26, 2017.
