Stamford Mayor on Shooting: Senseless, Violent, Isolated Event

A shooting incident near Columbus Park in Stamford was caught on video early Saturday morning by a witness and released by Stamford Police with a plea for anyone with information to contact them at 203-977-4417. Dayron Marquis Wills, 22, was arrested and held on $1Millon bond.

Stamford Mayor Martin met with city leaders and downtown restaurant owners on Monday to discuss the shooting incident that occurred this past weekend and the city’s response.

According to the Mayor’s “Government Center” Facebook page, Martin called the incident a “senseless, violent act” and announced that the city would be increasing its police presence in the downtown during the coming weeks. 

Mayor Martin said the incident appears to have been an isolated event and thanked Stamford Police for their work in making a swift arrest.
