Spate of Larcenies from Cars, Burglaries on East Side of Greenwich

Last weekend there was a spate of crime on the east side of town. Items including wallet, cash and credit cars were taken from cars on Florence Road, Halsey Drive and Hillcrest Park Road. A fourth larceny from a car was reported on December 2 on West End Avenue, where a wallet was taken from an unlocked car. According to Lt. Kraig Gray of Greenwich Police, all but one of the cars had been left unlocked.

On Dec 3, two residential burglaries were reported to Greenwich Police, with one taking place on Serenity Lane and a second on Benenson Drive.

According to Lt. Kraig Gray, in the Serenity Lane burglary a rear door was forced open and small portable electronics and a few hundred dollars cash were stolen.

According to Lt. Gray, thieves look for easy targets, particularly in the overnight hours.

“It only takes a second to open a door, grab a wallet and leave,” he said.

He requests that if any resident sees someone acting suspiciously to call the police.
