Saturday Night Hit-and-Run Results in Multiple Charges

Saturday, June 27, 2015 at about 10:30pm multiple Greenwich Police officers responded to the intersection of Byram Road and Talbot Lane on the report of a hit and run accident.

Investigation revealed that Grzegorz Gunia, 23, of 18 Walter Wheeler Drive in Stamford, was traveling south on Byram Road while distracted by his GPS device when he made an improperly wide right turn Talbot Lane.

According to police, Gunia’s wide turn caused his car to strike and damage an occupied vehicle parked along the shoulder. After the parked vehicle’s occupants confronted Gunia, he fled the scene.

Gunia was located a short time later in his car in Stamford by Stamford Police who arrested him for the hit and run. He was additionally charged with driving without a valid driver’s license.

Greenwich Police took custody of Gunia and he was charged with Evading Responsibility, Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a License, Improper Right Turn, and Distracted Driving.

Gunia was assigned a court date of July 6 at Stamford Superior Court. He was released from after posting a $500 cash bond.
