Report of 2 am Assault on Delavan Results in Multiple Charges

Greenwich Police responded to an address on Delavan Avenue on a report of an assault on Monday at approximately 2:00am.

Upon arrival, officers determined an assault had occurred as a result of an argument between a boyfriend and girlfriend.

The victim informed officers the argument had become physical when Edison Rivera-Loja, 31, of 331 Delavan Ave, Apt 3, kicked the victim to the ground.

In a case of robbery and domestic violence, Mr Rivera-Loja was charged with Criminal Mischief 3rd degree, Robbery 3rd degree, Disorderly Conduct and Assault 3rd degree. According to Greenwich Police’s supplemental narrative, the victim and suspect have had ongoing relationship problems. During Monday’s incident the victim arrived home and found that Mr. Rivera-Loja had been throwing objects on the floor of their residence and damaged property owned by the victim.

According to the police report, the victim and suspect began had an argument. The argument continued to escalate when the victim felt that the suspect became very aggressive, causing the victim to become fearful. According to the police report, the suspect took the victim’s cell phone and fled. The responding officers’ search for Rivera-Loja was unsuccessful. However, the investigating officer made contact with the suspect via phone and several hours later, he appeared at Greenwich Police headquarters and was arrested without incident.

Mr. Rivera-Loja was unable to post bond of $1,500 and was being held until his court date in Stamford Superior court on June 17.
