Man is Charged with DUI After Hitting Two Parked Cars in Chickahominy

police cellGreenwich Police Officers were detailed to 33 Alexander Street in Chickahominy on Sunday night around 11:00pm in response to a report of a car crashing into two parked cars on the southern shoulder of the street.

Witnesses said that Benedicto Mendones and said he had attempted to free his vehicle of the collision and flee.

Further investigation determined that Mr. Mendones, 70, of 470 June Road in Stamford, displayed red glassy eyes and the odor associated with the consumption of alcoholic beverages was detected emanating from his person and breath. Mendones did not perform standardized field sobriety tests to standard and was placed under arrest. He was charged with Operating Under the Influence, Unsafe Movement and Evading Responsibility.

Mendones is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Sept. 4. He was able to post bond of $250 and was released from custody.
