Man Arrested for Allegedly Assaulting a Taxi Driver outside the Hyatt Regency

On Thursday at about 11:58pm, multiple Greenwich Police units responded to the Hyatt Regency on a report of a man striking a taxi driver in the face.

Upon arrival, Greenwich Police say both subjects were located at the front counter within the hotel. The victim was visibly upset and had mild bruising on his face.

The suspect, Vincent Paul Carroll, 60, of 181 Bellvue Ave in Newport, RI, was upset that the taxi driver, stating that he was withholding property from him.

Subsequent investigation revealed that the property in question had been left behind by the suspect where he was originally admitted to striking the taxi driver in the face.

Mr. Carroll was charged with Disorderly Conduct and Assault on a Victim over 60. He was assigned a court date on August 25, 2017 in Stamford Superior Court. His bond was set at $250.
