Stolen License Plate that Passenger Claimed He’d Found in a Parking Lot Results in Larceny Charge

Jovan Marquis Ghant, 33, of 561 Park Ave in Bridgeport was arrested on Oct 14 by Greenwich Police and charged with Larceny 6.

On the 14th at bout 2:30am, Greenwich Police initiated a motor vehicle stop in the area of East Putnam Avenue and by the I95 exit 5 interchange on a 2004 Nissan Maxima which was being operated with a New York license plate that had been reported stolen. Upon investigation it was revealed that the passenger of the car, Mr. Ghant, had multiple active arrest warrants out of Bridgeport. He related that he found the license plate that was on the Maxima in a parking lot.

Once positively identified, Mr. Ghat was arrested and charged with Larceny 6. He was assigned a court date on Oct 28, 2016 in Stamford Superior Court. Ghant was picked up at Greenwich Police headquarters by Connecticut State Police and transported to for warrant processing.

The driver of the Maxima, Miguel Torres of Bridgeport was given a Misdemeanor Summons for Misuse of License Plates, Operation a Motor Vehicle with No Insurance and Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle. Torres has a court date on Oct 28, 2016  in Stamford Superior Court.
