Greenwich Police are accepting applications for their 2014 Spring women’s self-defense class.
The program is open to women between 18 and 55. Classes start May 19, and meet Mondays and Wednesdays in May, and Tuesdays and Thursdays in June, with a graduation ceremony scheduled for Thursday, June 19.
Participants, who will be asked to undergo a background inquiry, are asked to choose either the 6:00-7:30 pm or 7:45-9:15pm session.
Greenwich residents will receive priority for enrollment.
Certified police instructors will teach proven techniques and students will bolster their self confidence in self-defense situations, and identify and overcome physical and psychological limitations. Classes are taught at the police station.
The Department requests applicants commit to the full five-week program. Because enrollment is limited to 40 students, qualified applicants may be subject to a lottery for enrollment.
