Greenwich Police Release Surprising Stats on Larcenies from Cars in 2016

A total of 131 larcenies from cars were reported to Greenwich Police in 2016 in Greenwich.

Since October 1, there have been 33 Larcenies from unlocked cars in the area of North Mianus, concentrated from Sheephill to Havemeyer Lane, north of the Post Road – the area that abuts Stamford.

“Although larcenies are sometimes focused on the west side of town, and other times in central Greenwich, there is a recent hot spot in the North Mianus area,” said Lt. Kraig Gray.

“We have had only a couple of larcenies from cars that were locked. But those are anomalies,” he said. “The larcenies generally occur after 7:00pm through the early morning hours.”

Greenwich Police have notified patrol officers to continue to be vigilant in the area and patrols have been adjusted,” Lt. Gray continued. “They hope to be in the right place and time, but it is helpful if citizens call us immediately if they see suspicious activity.”
