Greenwich Police Catch up with Driver Who Fled Saturday Night Crash

On Saturday at about 11:00pm, multiple Greenwich Police units were detailed to the area of 25 Byram Shore Road on the report of a possible car crash.

Though officers were not able to locate any damaged vehicles, they did find  remnants of a vehicle along with skid marks and damage to the grassy shoulder at 34 Byram Shore Rd.

A witness to the crash said the car was red. During investigation, police located an ID card name of Mario Avimael Marin, 21, of 106 Mead Ave, with whom they have had a previous interaction, where he was the driver of a red Acura RSX.

Police went to Mr. Marin’s residence where they found a red Acura with recent damage to its right side wheels and grass stuck to the wheels. Mr. Marin was at home and, when questioned, admitted that he had been driving the car during the accident.

Also, police learned that Mr. Marin had neither a valid driver’s license, nor proof of insurance.

Marin was charged with having No Insurance, Evading Responsibility with Property Damage, and Driving without a License.

His bond was set at $80 and he has a court date in Stamford Superior Court on Nov. 14, 2016.
