Greenwich Police Arrest Hit-and-Run Driver Caught Fleeing on Bruce Park Ave

On Sept. 4 at approximately 1:40am Greenwich Police responded to a report of a car accident with unknown injuries in the area of 58 Bruce Park Avenue.

Upon arrival on scene officers spoke with a witness who informed officers that the operator responsible for the accident was a male subject wearing an orange t shirt who had fled the scene on foot last seen running north on Davis Avenue.

While canvassing the area for the subject, Greenwich Police located a man in an orange cut off t-shirt walking north on Davis Avenue.  The suspect, Edwin Mendez, 52, of 424 Franklin St Port Chester, NY, admitted that he was operating the car responsible for the motor vehicle accident and had fled the scene. He was placed under arrest and transported to Greenwich Police Headquarters where he was charged with Evading Responsibility and Restricted Turns Fail Signal. His bond was $200 and he has a date in Stamford Superior Court on  September 11.
