Greenwich Man Charged after Report of Car Stuck on a Rock on Tod’s Driftway

Around 4:00pm on Saturday Greenwich Police received a report of a car stuck on a rock on Tod’s Driftway in Old Greenwich.

A responding officer arrived to find a car pulled over on the side of the roadway, stuck on a small rock.

According to Lt. David Nemecek the driver, Michael Cavalieri, 24, of 5 Tory Road in Riverside, had pulled to the side of the road to check his cell phone when his car, a Volkswager GTI, became stuck.

The responding officer was a drug recognition expert, “DRE,” which reflects additional training in order to determine whether the suspect is under the influence of drugs versus alcohol.

The suspect underwent field sobriety tests, which he did not perform to standard. He was charged with DUI and Illegal Possession of Marijuana.

Lone Star responded to the scene and removed the vehicle, which was not damaged.

Cavalieri was subsequently released on a bond of $250. He has a court date in Stamford Superior Court on Sept 6, 2017.
