GPD: Stolen Restaurant Cooking Oil; Dumpster Diving

On January 3, Greenwich Police responded to reports of two unusual crimes.

Harvest Restaurant reported the theft of cooking oil. According to Greenwich Police Lt Slusarz, there is a service that pays for and picks up restaurant cooking oil. The oil sells for about $2.00 a gallon. The restaurant reported that a 30 gallon drum had gone missing. Though the value of the cooking oil is only about $60.00, other restaurants might take heed.

Also on Jan 3, police received a report of a man on private property on Hamilton Ave in Chickahominy “dumpster diving.” The man received a ticket for simple trespassing.
