Fugitive Nabbed after Car Spins Off West Putnam Ave in Heavy Snow

While on patrol on Monday, Jan. 26, Greenwich Police observed a vehicle that had spun off of the roadway in the area of 777 West Putnam Avenue. The vehicle had spun out due to the extremely heavy snowfall when police arrived at about 8:00pm.

The operator was identified by his CT operator’s license as George H. Hamilton, 55, of 104 Pemberwick Rd.  A routine check of his license status revealed an extraditable warrant out of Delaware.

The warrant detailed that Hamilton was wanted for Violation of Probation, Failure to Appear and Drug Charges. Delaware State Police confirmed that the warrant was active and they would extradite Hamilton. The suspect was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to Greenwich Police headquarters, where he faced the original charges as well as Fugitive from Justice.  Unable to post a $25,000 bond, he was subsequently placed in the cell block and has a court date in Stamford Superior Court on Feb. 2, 2015.
