Duo Face Charges for Incident at Saks Involving Fraudulent Use of Charge Card

Greenwich Police arrested two men on Jan 11 after an incident at Saks on Greenwich Avenue.

Youhan Tang, 28, of 41 11 Parson Blvd in Flushing, NY and Hewei Lin, 24, of 4514 158th St in Flushing, NY were arrested around 6:00pm after Greenwich Police responded to a report of a possible fraud.

According to Lt Slusarz, the duo were trying to purchase two handbags valued at $6,000 when a loss prevention officer approached a police officer outside doing a side job and advised that the two men were inside the store trying to make a suspicious transaction.

“The Chief happened to be in the area, along with several detectives,” Slusarz said. “The plain clothes detectives entered the store and did an investigation. They asked these people some questions and determined that they were trying to use a Saks 5th Ave charge card fraudulently. They were less than truthful, giving false names.”

Mr. Lin was charged with Conspiracy to Commit Larceny and Interfering with an Officer.

Mr. Tang was charged with Larceny 3, $500 on Revoked Payment Card, Identity Theft 2, Criminal Impersonation and Forgery 3.

Mr. Tang was unable to post his $50,000 bond and is being held in the GPD cell block pending his appearance in Stamford Superior Court on Jan 26, 2018. Mr. Lin was able to post his bond which was set at $1,000. He is also due to appear in court on Jan 26.
