DUI for Man, 25, Who Led Cops on Thanksgiving Chase Toward Belle Haven

At 1:00am on Thanksgiving Greenwich Police arrested Jack Austin-Lee Rivers, 25, of 158 S 7th Ave in New York, NY after a car chase down Shore Road near Belle Haven.

According to Greenwich Police, Rivers was spotted in a blue Audi A6 with Connecticut license plates traveling west on Horseneck Lane at a high rate of speed. The vehicle turned left, heading south on Shore Road without a left turn signal and continued to accelerate southbound on Shore Rd, exceeding the speed limit.

Police officers had to accelerate to over 50 miles per hour to catch up with Rivers before his Audi stopped at the intersection of Grass Island Rd and Shore Rd. Officers on the scene observed Rivers to have glassy, red eyes, slurred speech and the odor of alcohol. He was asked to participate in Standardized Field Sobriety Tests which he was unable to complete.

Rivers was charged with Operating Under the Influence, Traveling Unreasonably Fast and Failure to Signal. He Posted a $250 bond and was released. He is schedule to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Dec. 11, 2014.
