DUI for Driver Who Nearly Caused Head-On Collision with Greenwich Police

After a Toyota 4Runner nearly caused a head-on collision with a Greenwich police car on  Delavan Ave at about 2:20am on Nov. 27,  police stopped the car, driven by Julio C Ortiz, 55 of Port Chester.

The operator, Julio C. Ortiz, 60, of 231 King Street in Port Chester was determined to have glassy, red eyes, slurred speech, and the odor associated with the consumption of alcoholic beverages.

Ortiz submitted to the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests after admitting to consuming alcohol prior to driving, and he did not complete them to standard. He was placed under arrest and charged with DUI and Failure to Drive in the Proper Lane.

He was able to post his bond of $250 and has a court date in Stamford Superior Court on Dec. 11.
