DUI for Driver Speeding on Putnam Ave at 1:00am

On Sunday at about 1:00am, a Greenwich Police officer on patrol observed a vehicle traveling west on E. Putnam Avenue in the area of Maher Avenue, which is a clearly posted 30 mph zone. The car was observed traveling at approximately 46 miles per hour.

The investigating officer did a U-turn turn to catch up to the car, which turned onto Greenwich Avenue. The car made a right turn onto Lewis Street without stopping for the posted stop sign. Then, at the  intersection of Lewis St at Benedict Place, the car made a right turn onto Benedict Place without stopping.

A motor vehicle stop was initiated and on scene investigation revealed that the driver, Ruan S Nizolek, 27, of 301 East Tenth St Apt #4 in New York City, had been previously drinking and agreed to perform standardized field sobriety tests which he was not able to perform to standard.

The operator was placed under arrest and charged with Speeding, DUI and Failure to Obey Stop Sign. His bond was set at $260 and he has a court date in Stamford Superior Court on Aug. 31, 2015.
