On Saturday Sept 23 around 12:30ama Greenwich Police officer monitoring traffic from the parking lot the town’s highway dept shed at 100 Indian Field Rd observed a black Chevrolet Camaro, later identified as Miguel Alejandro Rivas, 27, of 172 Hawthorne Drive in New London.
The Camaro was observed traveling north on Indian Field Road and pull off the roadway, just prior to the traffic light at the entrance to I95. The driver next put on the car’s hazard lights.
The vehicle appeared to be disabled and the officer prepared to offer assistance.
The driver, Mr. Rivas’ had glassy, bloodshot eyes, and his pupils were dilated. He did not perform field sobriety tests to standard and was charged with DUI. His bond was set at $250, which he was unable to post at the time of the arrest. He has a date in Stamford Superior Court on Oct 9, 2017.
