Drunk Driver Discovered Sleeping at the Wheel in Byram

Greenwich Police heard from a witness in Byram that a Nissan Altima was driving erratically in the area of Henry Street and New Stree on February 15, at around 8:00pm.

Police officers discovered the car parked along the curb on New Street with the operator asleep at the wheel. The driver was identified as Rosel Rivera-Contreras, 30, of 156 Greenwich Ave #2A,  and was found to have the keys to the vehicle on him.

When asked to roll down his driver side window, Mr. Rivera Contreras appeared to be confused. He turned the engine on before opening the driver’s side door to speak with the officers as he struggled to open up the side window. His eyes were glassy and the officer detected the odor of alcoholic type beverages on his breath. Mr. Rivera-Contreras was asked to submit to a series of field sobriety tests which he was not able to perform to standard.

Rivera-Contreras was arrested and charged with DI and Refusing to be Fingerprinted

His bond was set at $250, which he was unable to post. He was assigned a court date on Feb. 29, 2016 in Stamford Superior Court.
