Back Country Woman Charged with Failure to Appear on Animal Cruelty Charges

A Greenwich woman was arrested by Greenwich Police on Tuesday and charged with Failure to Appear in Court to answer for animal cruelty charges.

Kelly Cano, 26, of 30 Stag Lane, was arrested on Dec 5 for an incident that took place on Oct 3 at 11:00am.

Cano’s bond was set at $5,000, which she was unable to post. She was assigned a date in Stamford Superior Court on Dec 20, 2017.

Court records say that town animal control officers had received numerous complaints about eight dachshund dogs roaming around the area of Alexander Street, which is located in Chickahominy.

Police and animal control officers found that Cano was keeping the dogs, some of them puppies, in an unsanitary condition, according to a civil suit filed against her in Superior Court. The suit was part of an action to remove the dogs from her custody. She was also given an infraction for failing to vaccinate the animals.
