Car Theft Arrest: Part 2

On Wednesday, Greenwich Police arrested Shicquane Narine, 19, whose last known address is 11 Finney Lane, Apt #15 in Stamford.

The arrest was based upon a warrant and Narine was apprehended at Stamford Superior Court. He was taken into custody by the Stamford Police and the Judicial Court Marshalls when he arrived for a scheduled court appearance for an unrelated charge.

Besides the charges that required Narine to appear in court on August 5 , Narine had two additional warrants held by the Stamford Police who served those warrant for Robbery 2nd Degree and Threatening while Narine was being processed within the Greenwich Police Department lock-up.

Narine was unable to post his $15,000 bond on the Greenwich charges, and was held pending his court date on August 13, 2015.

The arrest stems back to an incident on June 27, when at about 2:30am, a Greenwich Police officer on patrol observed two suspicious vehicles on Cliff Avenue.

The vehicles were driving at a slow rate of speed and appeared to be traveling together. As the officer approached the vehicles, they immediately accelerated in opposite directions at a high rate of speed. One vehicle passed dangerously close to the marked police car traveling in the opposite lane of travel. Investigation by our Detective Division revealed that the fleeing car was a Chevy Impala which was stolen from Cliff Avenue and driven by Narine.
