DTC Chair Ramer: After Charlottesville, leadership should be seeking to find the best in us.

Submitted by DTC chair Jeff Ramer, August 14, 2017

To the editor:

It is not enough that civilized society condemns the events at Charlottesville.

Mere declarations of rejection of white supremacy, or for that matter any supremacy, doesn’t do it.  The world is not righted because a miscreant is seized and punished.  We are a single society, and we either prosper or fail together.

Leadership should be seeking to find the best in us. To bring us together in appreciation of our common strengths.  To appeal to our better angels.

Conversely, while our President plays to our divisions, while he gropes for our basest instincts, we will reap what he sows.
