Screen Shot 2014-10-03 at 11.31.31 AMChelsea Piers, not far from Greenwich — just off exit 9 of I-95 in Stamford — is moving closer to finishing their members-only fitness facility which will be a whopping 65,000 square feet and fill previously vacant space adjacent to the existing 400,000+ square foot sports complex.

“CP-AC Fitness” which is an acronym for the Chelsea Piers Athletic Club will feature 25K sq ft of strength and cardio equipment, a dedicated mind/body center for Pilates Reformer classes, multi-disciplinary and hot yoga as well as traditional group fitness studios and dedicated space for triathlon and competitive cycling training.

On a hard-hat tour of the nearly completed fitness center, Erica Bates of Chelsea Piers marketing department said the fitness center makes great sense because so many parents, especially those with multiple children, are constantly in the complex while their children’s sports team practices or competes.

“Instead of working on their phones or laptops with our free wi-fi, now they’ll be able to take a yoga class, schedule a massage, take a group exercise class,” Bates said.

Group exercise will be taken to a new level with 75+ weekly fitness classes and programs.

Other features of the soon-to-be-completed fitness center include a custom Queenax Bridge studio that creates endless possibilities for suspension, boxing and functional training. Membership also includes access to the Olympic-size pool, hardwood basketball courts, 1/5 mile indoor track, indoor turf fields, plus tennis and squash courts, subject to scheduling.

Individual, family and senior memberships are available and can be activated immediately or on the date CPAC Fitness opens. For membership information visit Chelsea Piers Connecticut or call (230) 989-1200.
