OGRCC to Host U11 Cal Ripken District 1 All Star Tourney

Screen Shot 2016-06-28 at 11.30.17 AMThe OGRCC is excited to announce Greenwich will host the 11U Cal Ripken District 1 All Star tournament.

The games will begin this week starting June 30th – July 7th, 2016.

The Greenwich team will play against Norwalk on July 2nd at 10:00 am. “We are thrilled to be hosting the Cal Ripken 11U All Star tournament,” said Jeff Mini, Commissioner of Greenwich Cal Ripken Baseball. “It’s truly an honor and a first for the Greenwich Cal Ripken program.”

All games will be played at the newly renovated Banksville baseball field located at 12 Banksville Avenue in Greenwich.

Together with the OGRCC (Old Greenwich-Riverside Community Center) and multiple volunteers, this field has been revamped and ready to host this great tournament.

“The OGRCC was committed to working together with volunteers, sponsors and the Banksville Community House to create a perfect baseball field. This is the first time that the Cal Ripken tournament has been brought to Greenwich and to the Banksville field. We are very excited to support the program,” said Kirk Schubert, President of the OGRCC.

The Greenwich All Star team is lead by Coach Ben Jones, Coach Brian Leidich, an Manager Joel Perez. The team includes: Trey Begasse, Javier Serra, Wyatt Gibson, Daniel Fox, Tyler Cusimano, Robert Rota, Nathan Jones, Caden Leidich, James Wallgum, John Freeman, Ben Jones, James Babb, Thomas Healey, Ryan Perez and Riley Redahan.
