Screen Shot 2015-04-28 at 9.13.04 PMThe Greenwich Registrars of Voters, in conjunction with the League of Women Voters,
will hold a voter registration session at Greenwich High School on Thursday, April 30 from 10:00am til 1:00pm.

Photo ID is recommended, but not required.

“Greenwich and the State of CT need citizens who are active and informed. The act of registering to vote is a signal that you care about your community,” said Fred DeCaro
III, Republican Registrar.

According to the “Rock The Vote,”  between 48 and 52% of registered 18-to-29-year-
olds voted in 2012.  The percentages are on the rise, and are in fact moving towards
the 55% participation record set in 1972, the Presidential Election held after the voting age was reduced from 21 to 18.

Democratic Registrar of Voters, Sharon Vecchiolla has been participating in high school
voter registration drives for more than 20 years.  “Students find it difficult to register while away at college, the military, or while working. Young people are more likely to vote if they register before they leave high school. We hope many students take advantage of this chance to be registered and ready for the next election,” Vecchiolla said.

Also again this year the use of electronic devices will be available to allow students with Driver’s Licenses to register to vote Online.

The Registrars may register students who are under 18 as long as they will be 18 by November 3, 2015, which is the next scheduled election.
