Dispatch from New Hampshire: Greenwich Radio Host Lisa Wexler Hits the Ground Running

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Here in New Hampshire, where it is not as cold as it could be, I arrive with my producer Danielle Costa to crowds of actively opinionated voters. Ground zero is the Radisson Hotel in downtown Manchester.

Like the corner of 57th Street and 5th in Manhattan, all you need to do is stand outside the revolving doors of the Radisson lobby and eventually everyone of political significance will appear.

Today  we spotted Ben Carson being whisked into his car by the secret service, followed only minutes later by an affable Bob Schieffer, the great CBS newsman.

We traveled to picturesque Henniker to hear Hillary Clinton speak at New England College. Overflow crowd. Speakers broken in the overflow room so many huddled outside in the cold to actually hear her speak. Anecdotally, I can report that the crowd appeared divided by age. Over 50, enthusiastic for Hillary. Under 50, Bernie, Bernie, Bernie.

Onward to a gas station, lured by $1.75 a gallon. Clearly not in CT anymore. Spied an Airbus plastered by huge John Kasich sign. When I knocked, out of the dark jumped an enthusiastic volunteer who led us to Kasich HQ. Fun and friendly.

Sitting here at St Anselm’s College for the Republican Debate about to begin. Straw poll of students had Rubio well ahead of everyone, followed by Cruz, Bush, and Trump a lame fourth. Is this a precursor of the actual vote?

Stay tuned for more notes from the road to The White House!
